Device management and photo export

iMazing for iPhone-to-Windows Photo Transfer

iMazing is a Mac and Windows application for exploring, exporting, backing up, and managing iPhone and iPad data. It is broader than a simple photo-sending app.

What iMazing can do with iPhone photos

On a Windows PC, iMazing can browse iPhone photos and videos and export selected files to computer folders. Its photo tools also cover Live Photos, some original-versus-edited file choices, and optional HEIC-to-JPEG conversion. These features are useful if you want to inspect a library before deciding what to keep.

iMazing also supports device backup and other categories of data, including messages and contacts. This makes it a different kind of product from LocalSend, which focuses on nearby file sharing, or PhotoSync, which specializes in moving photos and videos.

How to export photos to a Windows PC

  1. Install iMazing on Windows from the official iMazing website.
  2. Connect your iPhone using a data-capable USB cable. Unlock the phone and accept the computer trust prompt only for your own trusted PC.
  3. Open iMazing and let the initial device pairing finish.
  4. Choose the photo or camera view, select a small test group, and export to a clearly named Windows folder.
  5. Check the resulting files, format, and resolution. Then export the rest of your chosen items.

If your images are stored as iCloud-only originals, make sure the full-resolution files can be downloaded before assuming a desktop application will export them. See why some photos appear missing on Windows.

Can iMazing work wirelessly?

Yes, after initial pairing. iMazing's official instructions say the iPhone needs to be paired over USB first. The later Wi-Fi connection requires the phone and PC to be on the same reachable local network. iMazing also advises using USB for large jobs because Wi-Fi may be slower. This is not a cable-free first-time setup.

When it is a strong fit

  • You need more than photo transfer, such as device backups or data export.
  • You want to browse albums and inspect selected files before exporting them.
  • You are comfortable with the initial cable connection and device trust process.

When another method may be simpler

  • For a one-time wired photo import, start with Windows Photos and Apple's recommended USB process.
  • For free nearby file sharing without an initial USB pairing step, consider LocalSend.
  • For photo-focused transfer destinations and automation options, review PhotoSync.
  • For an iPhone-to-Windows wireless workflow with cross-network options, see DropToPC, which has the same owner as this website.

Costs and limits

iMazing offers some functions without a license, while unlimited exports and advanced device-management options can require purchase. License terms and eligible features change: check the official pricing and feature information rather than relying on an old price quoted in a comparison.
