PhotoSync for iPhone to Windows: What It Does and How to Use It

PhotoSync is designed for transferring and backing up photos and videos, with options for Windows PCs, Macs, network storage, and supported cloud destinations.

How PhotoSync sends iPhone photos to Windows

For a straightforward local Wi-Fi transfer, install PhotoSync on the iPhone and use its free PhotoSync Companion on the Windows PC. The vendor also documents browser-based transfer options. Both methods have setup requirements, so check which you prefer.

  1. Install the iOS app and download PhotoSync Companion for Windows from the official downloads page.
  2. Run PhotoSync on both devices and make sure they are on the same reachable local network.
  3. Choose an iPhone album and select the photos or videos you want to send.
  4. Tap PhotoSync's transfer button, choose New, Selected, or All as appropriate, then select Computer.
  5. Choose the Windows PC, begin transfer, and verify the saved files and target folder.

What is different about PhotoSync?

  • Photo-oriented transfers: It offers selections, destination settings, naming and album-oriented workflows.
  • Local Wi-Fi: The standard computer transfer can happen directly over the local network without an intermediate cloud upload.
  • More destinations: Official product documentation lists NAS protocols and supported online photo/storage services; these depend on destination configuration and plan.
  • Automatic transfers: PhotoSync Premium offers AutoTransfer workflows, including location-based or charging-triggered behavior on iOS, subject to iOS and app conditions.

Important: Free, Pro, and Premium are not the same

In its 2026 PhotoSync 4.10 release notes, the developer says the iOS app is free to download and lets users test transfer functionality in reduced quality. A PhotoSync Pro in-app one-time purchase unlocks full-quality transfer. PhotoSync Premium adds power-user features such as AutoTransfer, and the developer offers Premium as a one-time or subscription purchase.

Check the current App Store offer and exact entitlement in your country before purchasing. This distinction matters if you need original-resolution photos or HEIC/HEVC files in an archival workflow.

Why might the PC not appear?

Some routers prevent automatic discovery. PhotoSync documents a manual computer IP and port option for this situation; obtain the correct values from the running Windows Companion application. Also check the iPhone Local Network permission and Windows Firewall app allowance. Do not expose the Companion service publicly just to fix a local-network issue.

Who should consider it?

PhotoSync is a good candidate for users who regularly move photos, want many target destinations, or need automated photo workflows. For a simple free transfer of arbitrary file types on one local network, LocalSend may be enough. For inspecting and exporting a broader range of iPhone data, see iMazing.
